Overview

Provide cultural mediation and interpretation support to facilitate communication between service providers and migrants. Support community engagement and awareness-raising activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide cultural mediation and interpretation support (English into migrants’ mother tongue and vice versa).
  • Provide verbal interpretation support to IPAS staff.
  • Assist through interpretation during information collection, data, and case identification/referrals.
  • Support beneficiaries in contacting service providers.
  • Support identification of vulnerabilities and refer them for case management.
  • Assist with logistics, interpretation, and beneficiary outreach for community engagement activities.
  • Conduct outreach activities to inform beneficiaries about MHPSS services.
  • Provide interpretation assistance to mental health professionals.
  • Prepare routine documentation and submit basic reports.
Required Experience
  • High school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings would be an asset.
  • Experience in cultural mediation in the framework of migrants’ assistance.
  • Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Government’s Departments would be an asset.
Qualifications

High school diploma; or, Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Social Sciences, International relations or related fields from an accredited academic institution.

Fluency in English is required (oral and written). Fluency or mother tongue in Somalian is required.
