Overview

UN Women seeks an experienced international consultant to provide strategic writing and editing expertise for donor reports, strategic documents, knowledge products, advocacy materials, and resource mobilization documents.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and draft, edit and finalize high-quality written content, including press releases, articles, information sheets, brochures, newsletters, reports, surveys, analytical notes, briefing notes and key messages;
  • Identify and develop storylines and content for media outreach and visibility initiatives, including op-eds, policy papers, thematic briefs, press releases and other communication products;
  • Write speeches on behalf of the UN Women Lebanon Representative;
  • Provide expert editorial review and quality assurance of programme and corporate documents;
  • Produce summaries, briefs and synthesized versions of reports, studies and knowledge products;
  • Conceptualize, draft and review additional written products and communication materials.
Required Experience

At least 7 years of progressively responsible international experience in strategic communications, technical writing, editing, journalism, research, knowledge management, donor reporting, policy development or related fields is required; Experience developing high-quality reports, policy papers, strategic documents, proposals and donor-facing products is required; Experience in providing editorial oversight and quality assurance for complex technical documents is required; Experience working with the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable; Strong understanding of gender equality, women’s empowerment and human rights issues is required; Experience working in the Arab States region is desirable.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Gender Studies, International Development, International Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
