The World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Program (YPP) offers exceptional professionals the opportunity to apply their specialized technical expertise, broaden their experience, and contribute to solutions to development challenges.
Key Responsibilities
YPs will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and institutions, applying their expertise to help address pressing development challenges and improve lives around the world. YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office. Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders.
Required Experience
2-6 years of relevant professional experience. Solid experience in a field such as finance (including, for example, a major commercial or investment bank; international financial institution; export credit agency, private equity firm; insurance), corporate development/mergers & acquisitions, management consulting, and/or financial advisory, preferably related to emerging markets. Strong financial, credit, and underwriting/risk assessment skills; sound business judgment, and preferably experience related to negotiating financial or guarantee/insurance contracts. Extensive knowledge of emerging markets finance and economic development, as well as high-level understanding of political and sovereign risk, and financial/ insurance products used to mitigate such risks. Experience in portfolio supervision, project management, and investor relations, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes is a plus. Experience in product development, innovation, or process improvement within financial or operational contexts is a plus.
Qualifications
Minimum of a masters-level degree in a relevant field.
