Overview
Internship positions within the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) focusing on data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
Key Responsibilities
- Create research and written contributions for reports and documents.
- Create software prototypes using programming languages such as Python.
- Produce inputs for outreach efforts including social media content.
- Assist in designing, organizing, planning and managing the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation, dissemination, and visualization of statistical data.
- Assist in developing, implementing and managing statistical database(s) and dashboards.
- Assist in training and technical support on data collection programmes, country practices, and other related information.
- Perform methodological research as inputs for technical documentation.
- Prepare draft technical documents for international, intergovernmental and expert group meetings, and assist in drafting relevant reports.
- Assist in the organization of seminars, working groups, and expert meetings.
- Assist with communication, data storytelling and data visualization (infographics) and outreach efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software, especially the MS suite of applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
