Overview
This role acts as secretary to the Working Party on Passive Safety (GRSP) and provides expert assistance in the development of vehicle regulations. The incumbent performs technical, legal, and administrative functions related to international agreements on vehicle regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Acts as secretary to the Working Party on Passive Safety (GRSP) and provides expert assistance in the development of vehicle regulations.
- Prepares and reviews working documents, drafts agendas and reports of sessions, services meetings, and undertakes follow-up actions.
- Liaises with representatives of Contracting Parties and participating organizations.
- Provides technical and legal assistance to GRSP to clarify complex issues and find compromise solutions.
- Performs technical, legal, and administrative functions related to the Agreement of 25 June 1998.
- Analyzes and evaluates national vehicle regulations, standards, and recommendations.
- Maintains and updates the Compendium of Candidates and the Global Registry of global technical regulations.
- Issues Official Notifications to Contracting Parties concerning changes to the Compendium and Global Registry.
- Ensures documents related to regulations are publicly available.
- Assists the Chief of the Vehicle Regulations and Transport Innovations Section in preparing sessions of WP.29 and AC.3.
- Contributes to analytical and capacity building activities related to passive safety.
- Acts as a focal point for pillar three (safer vehicles) of the decade of action for road safety.
- Represents the secretariat at conferences, workshops, working groups, and meetings.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of professional experience in transport, mechanical/electrical engineering, automotive sector or related area is required. Out of these 5 years, at least 2 years of experience in active or passive vehicle safety is desirable. Experience in policy formulation, preferably in a governmental or international organization, is desirable. Experience in servicing relevant international meetings, including the drafting of reports, is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced University Degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Engineering, Human Factors, or related area, is required. A first-level university degree in these or related specialized fields of study in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
