Overview
The role supports the Political Affairs Service with driving needs, including deliveries, purchases, and transport of authorized personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, etc. between offices and institutions.
- Makes minor purchases and collects urgent purchases from local suppliers.
- Collects goods from customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities.
- Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel.
- Collects and delivers mail, documents, and other items.
- Meets official personnel at the airport.
- Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
- Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles.
- Performs VIP and standby driver duties.
- Assists the workshop in the preparation of vehicles for field trips.
- Logs fuel consumption, maintenance, etc.
- Ensures that steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of an accident.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
A minimum of two years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience in driving armored vehicles is required. Work experience with the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles is desirable.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary technical or vocational qualification in the relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience in ground transport management is desirable. A valid driver's license for "B" category is required.
