Circular Economy and Waste Management Analyst (Part-time 50%)[Open to internal and external applicants]
Overview
The Circular Economy and Waste Management Analyst will provide technical leadership for the project's work on environmentally sound waste management and circular economy systems, focusing on Darkhan and Erdenet.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the establishment and operation of a multi-stakeholder circular economy working group.
- Provide technical guidance on the application of life-cycle thinking.
- Benchmark international and regional circular-economy good practices.
- Promote digital innovations for circular economy solutions.
- Support the establishment of small-scale composting and material recovery facilities.
- Guide investments to improve waste recycling and disposal infrastructure.
- Oversee a technical study evaluating green technologies for hazardous medical waste.
- Design and support awareness-raising and behaviour-change campaigns.
- Ensure circular economy and waste interventions are gender-responsive and create inclusive green job opportunities.
- Support Green City Innovation Labs activities and Innovation Challenges/hackathons.
- Provide technical inputs to procurement for waste management and circular economy consultancies, works, and equipment.
- Coordinate with municipal authorities, the private sector, and informal waste workers.
- Contribute to project reporting, knowledge products, and capacity-building activities.
Required Experience
Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in waste management, circular economy, recycling/material recovery, or environmental management.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental engineering, environmental management, waste management, circular economy, industrial ecology, or a related field; OR A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above fields, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
