Programme Analyst, Climate and Nature [Open to internal and external applicants]
Overview
The Programme Analyst, Climate and Nature is responsible for providing substantive support to the management of UNDP programmes within assigned thematic/sectoral areas, focusing on strategic management and quality assurance of the environmental portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inputs to analysis of the political, social and economic situation in the country.
- Oversee planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring of assigned programme areas.
- Ensure effective application of results-based management tools.
- Support development of partnerships with UN Agencies, international financial institutions, government institutions, donors, private sector, and civil society.
- Organize training for operations/ projects staff on programme related matters.
Required Experience
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience at the national and/or international level in providing management advisory services and hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development portfolios and projects within assigned thematic area (Nature and Climate).
- Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), database packages, and web-based management systems such as ERP is required.
- Experience at the national level in providing management advisory services, hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects is an asset.
- Proven experience in handling multi-sectoral coordination among professionals and regional teams is desired.
- Experience in integrated programming with good knowledge of UN System/UNDP's corporate policies and programmes is an advantage.
- Policy, advisory and advocacy experience and track record of engagement with United Nations, other development actors and donors are highly desirable.
- Experience in resource mobilization is an asset.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Natural Resources Management, Climate Change, Sustainability & Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, or related field is required or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above fields in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of an advanced university degree.
