Overview
Support the implementation of a digitization project and related digital preservation initiatives, including preparing physical records, scanning, quality review, and digital file management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the ARMU digitization project and related digital preservation initiatives.
- Assist in preparing physical records for digitization through sorting, arrangement, labelling, inventorying, and condition assessment.
- Assist with scanning and digitization activities following established quality standards and procedures.
- Perform image quality review, completeness checks, and quality assurance of digitized records.
- Assist in OCR processing and text verification of digitized materials.
- Organize and manage digital files in accordance with ARMU‘s file naming conventions, folder structures, and version-control procedures.
- Assist in identifying duplicates, missing documents, metadata inconsistencies, and filing errors.
- Assists in preparing background documentation, drafting correspondence, reports and presentations.
- Participates in meetings and seminars as necessary and take notes, draft summary reports, minutes and assessment reports for presentation and monitors follow-up.
- Support to other activities and projects, with the possibility to propose own ideas and initiatives.
- Perform other activities and special projects as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be in the final academic year of/or completed a first university degree programme or equivalent.
- Pursuing or have pursued a degree in Human Resource Management or Administration, Information Management, Digital Humanities, Information Technology, Communications, Media Studies, or related fields.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and demonstrate the ability to learn and use digital records management and archival information systems.
- Good understanding of document digitization workflows, including scanning, image quality control, OCR processing, file formats, and digital file management.
- Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
It is required that applicant must be in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) or Master’s Programme or equivalent, or has completed a Bachelor’s or a Master's Programme.
