Overview
The Programme Policy Officer (Nutrition) will serve as the focal point for nutrition-related programming activities, reporting to the Programme Policy Officer, Cross Cutting. The role involves supporting the design, planning, and implementation of nutrition programmes and activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and national priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with nutrition specialists in other UN agencies to support CO designing, planning and implementation of nutrition programmes and activities.
- Provide regular technical support to nutrition interventions, ensuring coordinated and effective integration with other programme aspects.
- Provide input and support in nutrition assessments, monitoring systems, and data collection activities.
- Analyse nutrition and programme performance data, identify trends and gaps, and provide strategic recommendations.
- Lead the preparation of related reports, briefs, donor updates, and analytical products.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with government ministries, UN agencies, NGOs, donors, research institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide support to national counterparts and implementing partners to strengthen capacities in nutrition programme design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Represent WFP in technical working groups, coordination forums, and inter-agency platforms related to nutrition, food security, health, and social protection.
- Contribute to resource mobilization efforts through the development of concept notes, project proposals, donor reports, and advocacy materials.
- Support nutrition preparedness and emergency response activities, ensuring timely technical inputs and effective implementation of nutrition interventions during crises and emergencies.
- Perform other duties as required in support of WFP's Zimbabwe CSP objectives.
Required Experience
At least one year of postgraduate professional experience in programme or project implementation, emergency preparedness. Experience and exposure to implementation of national/international development programmes. Experience working in public health/food security/ nutrition related activities. Experience identifying and defining nutrition issues/problems within a country.
Qualifications
Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
