Overview
The Intergovernmental Affairs Senior Analyst conducts substantive analysis and synthesizes proposals to support UNOPS' engagement with the Executive Board, UN Member States, and the broader UN system. The role involves managing documentation, supporting intergovernmental affairs, and contributing to knowledge management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparations of Executive Board’s formal and informal meetings, including logistical requirements.
- Prepare Chair’s notes and other procedural documentation.
- Draft and edit internal communications.
- Maintain, update, and track a centralized repository of Executive Board decisions.
- Develop a tracking system on Member States positions concerning Board related matters.
- Facilitate preparations for Joint Boards activities.
- Facilitate the preparation, review, formatting, and submission of official UNOPS Executive Board documentation.
- Liaise with relevant focal points, collect and consolidate documentation.
- Track deadlines and document submission schedules.
- Ensure timely publication of Board related documents on the UNOPS website.
- Assist in the production of notes and summaries, draft decisions, and other reporting on Board sessions.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for document processing and database management.
- Monitor major UN events, conferences, and forums and maintain the NYBER calendar.
- Prepare briefing notes, background materials, talking points, CVs, and other materials to support senior management engagement.
- Provide support for the organization of thematic briefings to Member States.
- Provide protocol and coordination support for UNOPS events at the United Nations.
- Provide analytical and coordination support for events, dialogues, and other platforms.
- Develop and maintain relevant content on the Executive Board and intergovernmental fora for the UNOPS intranet and external website.
- Provide feedback on existing systems, tools, resources, and processes.
- Support the development and updating of standard operating procedures, guidance materials, templates, and other knowledge products.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
- Support team cohesion by facilitating the exchange of information, experiences, and lessons learned.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, particularly in intergovernmental affairs; governance and oversight supporting roles, including in relation to Executive Boards; engagement in events/initiatives, communication, documentation, and/or coordination roles. Experience in development or humanitarian contexts is desired.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in international affairs, law, political science, communication, economics, business administration or related fields, OR Bachelor’s +2 additional years of experience.
