Overview

The Programme Officer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programmes and activities related to participatory policy innovation and long-term sustainable development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects on Beyond GDP and rethinking development systems.
  • Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation.
  • Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues and proposes corrective actions.
  • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Assists in policy development, including review and analysis of issues and trends related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Pact for the Future.
  • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding.
  • Engages and maintains regular coordination with project partners and relevant stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required. A minimum of two (2) years of working within the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable. Experience in preparing analytical and substantive inputs, including briefing materials, policy documents and senior-level communications, is desirable. Experience in sustainable development/SDGs is desirable. Experience in resource mobilization and partnerships is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in project management and Results-Based Management is desirable.
