South-South Cooperation Officer

Overview

Support the promotion of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on governmental institutions to advance FAO's mandate and Strategic Framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the promotion of SSTC in RLC, with particular focus on governmental institutions.
• Provide policy support, knowledge sharing and good practices on transformative SSTC.
• Monitor SSTC-related programmes and activities in the region and report on results.
• Support country-level actions guided by FAO's Country Programming Frameworks.
• Provide technical assistance and participate in negotiations for SSC initiatives.
• Assist FAO Representatives and regional organizations for the identification of SSC initiatives.
• Contribute to implementation in coordination and consultation with staff in the region.
• Participate in building partnerships with relevant stakeholders and resources mobilization.
• Contribute to the development of an M-E system and SSC communication strategy.
• Prepare analytical reports and provide information on SSC achievements and lessons learned.
• Produce regular briefs and documents explaining donor policies/trends.
• Support the coordination of meetings and ensure effective coordination with relevant HQ Divisions.
• Provide support to Country Offices on reporting on SSTC.
• Monitor existing SSTC agreements, initiatives and partnerships.
• Explore new strategic SSTC opportunities and partners.
• Assist in the analysis of existing internal policies and processes on SSTC and propose improvements.
• Support the review of the quality, consistency and appropriateness of SSTC materials, activities, processes and messages.
• Provide support to staff in Decentralized Offices on the use of corporate requirements related to SSTC.
• Assist in developing tools for capacity building and sharing experiences among staff.

Required Experience

Three years of relevant experience in agriculture and rural development, including experience in programme/project formulation/implementation, planning, partnership, policy development, capacity building, resource mobilization and monitoring and evaluation, including international experience.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in agricultural, economics, social sciences or closely related fields.
