UNFPA EECARO : Russian-English Interpreters and Translators Roster

Overview

Provide interpretation and translation services between Russian and English for virtual and in-person events, documents, reports, and briefs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous or consecutive oral interpretation for virtual and in-person events.
• Perform written translation and editing of internal and external documents.
• Translate and proofread text in figures, boxes, tables, and photo captions.
• Perform terminology research to ensure accuracy.
• Produce accurate translated text with minimal machine translation use.
• Communicate original meaning effectively for the target audience.
• Research legal, technical, and scientific phraseology.
• Reflect the style of the source material and use appropriate register.
• Consider cultural factors and suggest appropriate changes.
• Ensure language excellence, proofreading, and adherence to grammatical conventions.
• Ensure quality check of translation and formatting of tables, charts, boxes, and captions.

Required Experience

• Combined minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Russian-English-Russian interpretation and translation with an advanced university degree.
• OR
• Combined minimum of 7 years of relevant professional work experience with a first-level university degree.
• Demonstrated experience with technical terminology related to UNFPA’s mandate.
• Prior experience working with UN system organizations (e.g., EECA COs) is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in linguistics, translation, international relations, or related fields.
• OR
• First-level university degree (Bachelor's) in linguistics, translation, international relations, or related fields.
