National REDD+ Safeguards Expert

Overview

The National REDD+ Safeguards Expert will provide technical inputs on safeguards for monitoring reports, support validation and verification processes, contribute to capacity building plans, and prepare a benefit sharing procedure for private forest landowners.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and submit the safeguards section of the TMR2.
• Collect evidence and draft responses related to safeguards for audit findings.
• Provide inputs to the FI/FDF capacity building plan.
• Develop materials and deliver presentations/facilitation for capacity building workshops on safeguards.
• Prepare a draft Benefit Sharing Procedure, including templates, for benefit distribution to PFs landowners.

Required Experience

• A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience relevant to natural resource management, participatory approaches, rural development, and/or environmental law is required.
• Demonstrated experience related to safeguards policy development, safeguards implementation and/or safeguards monitoring, including related to institutional or corporate safeguards policies is required.
• Demonstrated experience working with Nepalese government agencies and institutions, preferably related to forestry, natural resource management, environment, or rural development is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in forestry, conservation sciences, development planning or related fields is required. A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
