Overview

Assists in financial and budget preparation, analysis, and reporting within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the preparation of supporting documents for cost estimates and budget proposals.
  • Supports the extraction of information and generation of expenditure reports from computerized systems.
  • Assists in the development of resource requirements for budget submissions and preparation of budget performance submissions.
  • Researches and compiles data for budget reviews and analysis.
  • Consolidates data and provides support for budget reviews and preparation of budget performance reports.
  • Prepares and reviews commitment and payment actions in UMOJA.
  • Assists with data input in UMOJA.
  • Assists in the financial backstopping of trust funds.
  • Assists in the issuance of allotments and related staffing table authorizations.
  • Verifies accuracy of input data for allotments.
  • Reviews and prepares payments to third parties.
  • Reviews final financial/audit reports and prepares payments for final disbursement.
  • Notifies payees of payment status.
  • Keeps up-to-date on documents and guidelines related to programme budgets.
  • Drafts routine correspondence related to financial and budget matters.
  • Maintains and updates files.
  • Provides administrative support as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, administrative services or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Out of which minimum 1 year of experience with the United Nations system or other similar international organization is desirable. Experience in finance-related modules in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as UMOJA is desirable. Experience with analysing and processing of Clearing Accounts is desirable. Experience in analysing and assessing financial reports is desirable.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
