Overview
The Social Policy Specialist (Development) role supports UNICEF field office Quetta in understanding the development context to advance children's rights. The incumbent provides technical support for social policy programs, advocacy, gender, and disability mainstreaming.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis of the development context and emerging development issues in the province to position UNICEF in the advancement of children's rights.
- Improving use of public financial resources for children.
- Strengthening social protection coverage and impact for children.
- Improving data on child poverty & vulnerability for increased use for policy and programme action
- Strengthened advocacy and partnerships for child-sensitive social policy.
- UNICEF Programme Management
- Lead the Gender Equality Agenda
- Support to the Evaluation and Research function at PCO
Required Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in social policy, social protection, child poverty, public finance, governance, policy analysis, programme planning or another related area is required. Solid understanding of the development context in Pakistan, including the country's decentralized governance structure is a requirement.
Qualifications
Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Economics, International Development, Political Science, Social Science, Social Policy, Public Policy, International Relations, Socio-Economic Development, or a related field is required.
