Programme Officer (Climate Change and Emergency), (NO-2), TA (10 months), #00138461, Yerevan – Armenia, ECAR (Open to the nationals of Armenia only)

Overview

The role will lead and contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring and coordination of evidence-based and sustainable climate, disaster risk reduction and emergency programmes in Armenia. It will provide technical guidance and strategic support to strengthen climate resilience, reduce risks to children and communities, enhance emergency preparedness and response, and promote child-sensitive approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading DRR programming and coordinating the climate change portfolio.
• Addressing climate and environment-related risks to children.
• Supporting evidence-based policy development and advocacy for risk mitigation.
• Supporting climate finance efforts to enable adequate national investments in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
• Supporting senior management and the CO in coordination of the residual emergency response efforts.
• Leading on emergency preparedness and humanitarian-development-peace nexus efforts, considering relevant risk scenarios.

Required Experience

• At least two (2) years of relevant professional work experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, and monitoring is required.
• Field work experience and experience in climate change, disaster risk reduction, emergency response/preparedness or closely related topics is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Policy, Social Development, or any other related field is required.
