Overview
Serve as a senior specialist contributing to the implementation of the WBG’s M&M Global Strategy by providing expert policy and technical advice to governments in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert policy and technical advice to governments on mineral exploration promotion, geological information improvement, mining project/sector development, mineral rights, permitting, mining regulation and environmental management.
- Support work with mining State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) on geological asset evaluation, exploration and resource-development strategies, enhancing investment readiness, and structuring partnerships.
- Partner with other WBG teams on joint initiatives with industry, government, NGOs, and regional institutions.
- Support the technical design and supervision of IBRD mining investment operations.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience (with experience in LCR countries). Candidates with 12 or more years of relevant experience are strongly preferred.
- Significant experience in advising governments on mining sector policy, regulation, and institutional reform, ideally combined with exposure to large‑scale mining investments and transactions gained in the private sector.
Qualifications
Minimum of a master’s degree or higher in mining, engineering, geology, public policy, economics, management or a related discipline.

Advanced language skills in Portuguese will be a plus.
