Peace Building Assistant (INT11864)

Overview

Support the planning and execution of peacebuilding activities, including community engagement, training, and coordination of initiatives. Monitor conflict dynamics and facilitate dialogues to strengthen social cohesion.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively involve community members in the planning and execution of peacebuilding activities.
• Support the mapping, identification, and selection of project participants.
• Establish, strengthen and train community governance structure on conflict prevention and resolution.
• Train community members on conflict early warning and early response.
• Coordinate and facilitate social cohesion and peacebuilding initiatives.
• Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of community peace building activities and local conflict resolutions mechanism.
• Strengthen collaborations with traditional leaders, local authorities, community peace structures, Youth groups, women groups and Civil society organisations (CSOs).
• Facilitate community dialogues sessions, Mediations, and peace building initiates.
• Monitor conflict dynamics and provide regular update on emerging risks and opportunities for peacebuilding.
• Organize workshops, training sessions, and community dialogues.
• Collect and analyze data on community perceptions of peace and social cohesion, providing regular reports.
• Empower local communities to take ownership of peacebuilding efforts.
• Work closely with other program teams to integrate peacebuilding efforts with livelihood, DRR, Nutrition, WASH, and education initiatives.
• Raise awareness about the importance of peacebuilding and social cohesion.
• Ensure all gender equality and social inclusions issues are integrated into all project activities.
• Represent Oxfam appropriately at County and Payam level stakeholders and NGOs coordination meetings and clusters.
• Ensure compliance with Oxfam organization policies, safeguarding standards, donor requirements and security procedures.

Required Experience

• Minium of 3 years of experience in implementing community development, peace building, agriculture or livelihoods projects.
• Experience working with donor funded programmes and multisectoral projects in a complex humanitarian environment with an international or multinational organisation.
• Demonstrated experience of integrated gender and diversity issues into humanitarian programmes.

Qualifications

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in development studies, Political Science, social sciences, peace and conflict studies, international studies or a related field.
