Senior Financial Control Officer

Overview

The Senior Financial Control Officer will serve as the senior technical resource on accounting policy and financial reporting, researching and documenting conclusions on complex transactions, and developing and implementing accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and interpret complex accounting and financial reporting matters, including new products, transactions, and other non-routine arrangements, and prepare clear technical accounting memoranda that document conclusions and rationale.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate ADB accounting policies, positions, and related documentation.
• Monitor standard-setting developments; assess their potential effects on ADB's transactions, financial statements, disclosures, systems, and controls; and coordinate implementation.
• Provide technical accounting advice to teams and risk and control functions during transaction structuring, product development, contract review, and implementation.
• Support the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures, with focus on judgments, estimates, and changes in accounting requirements.
• Benchmark accounting policies and disclosures against relevant peer institutions and industry practices, and recommend improvements.
• Partner with external auditors and stakeholders to resolve technical accounting matters and support well-documented, audit-ready positions.
• Evaluate accounting processes and internal controls over financial reporting; identify risks and control gaps; and lead enhancements to policies, systems, data, and workflows.
• Support cross-functional initiatives, working groups, training, and knowledge-sharing activities on accounting policy and reporting matters.
• Oversee, coach, and review the work of junior colleagues, promoting high-quality analysis, and application of policies.

Required Experience

At least 8 years of relevant professional experience preferably in a computerized environment at a large financial institution, and at least 4 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, major in Accounting/Finance; Certified Public Accountant; preferably with Master's Degree or equivalent.
