Country Coordinator (Open to Tier 0, 1 and 2 candidates only)
Overview
The Country Coordinator manages the UNV Field Unit and leads UNV's engagement at the country level, ensuring effective anticipation and response to the needs of the UN system and partners by mobilizing qualified volunteers and promoting volunteerism.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead volunteer mobilization by developing and implementing country-level strategies, participating in UN collective planning, presenting UNV's value proposition, supporting local talent outreach, promoting Online Volunteering, monitoring mobilization trends, and facilitating missions.
- Manage partnerships by building and sustaining relationships with UN partners, analyzing country strategies to identify opportunities, maintaining business intelligence, engaging with agency heads and staff, mapping SVF mobilization opportunities, and engaging with government, civil society, private sector, and development partners.
- Ensure Duty of Care by supporting host entities, working with UNDSS and host agencies on safety and security, ensuring volunteers receive appropriate briefings and guidance, briefing volunteers on code of conduct, conducting field visits, and facilitating engagement with volunteers.
- Lead advocacy on volunteerism by aligning communications with mobilization goals, developing volunteer stories, promoting UNV nationally and globally, staying informed of national volunteer initiatives, promoting national volunteer talent, and collaborating on International Volunteer Day activities.
- Manage the FU by leading and coordinating service delivery, supervising team members, developing and managing the FU's annual work plan and budget, liaising with UNDP teams for administrative support, ensuring transactions are undertaken in accordance with SOPs, and escalating risks to the RO.
Required Experience
Minimum of 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in humanitarian, development and/or peace-related fields. Experience in partnership building and management is essential. Experience in advocacy, public relations, or communication is an asset. Experience in programme reporting, monitoring and evaluation is an asset. Experience in volunteer management and/or promotion of volunteerism is an asset. Experience in working in digital platforms and tools, including CRM and ERP systems is an asset. Work experience with the United Nations is an asset.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent), or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience.
