State Project Coordinator
Overview
The State Project Coordinator will support the National Project Manager in implementing the GEF-GoI-UNDP LDN project in the state, working closely with various project units and UNDP.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the project in the state.
- Manage project operations daily, including budgeting and information flow.
- Develop state-specific annual work plans and report to MoEFCC and UNDP.
- Guide landscape teams and monitor consultant work.
- Assist in project evaluations.
- Ensure communication and coordination with project stakeholders.
- Foster partnerships with relevant institutions.
- Organize and facilitate review meetings.
- Coordinate with other state departments for convergence and knowledge sharing.
- Develop proposals for resource mobilization.
- Develop Terms of Reference for consultants and institutions.
- Commission activities such as research studies and training.
- Manage operational aspects of procurement and logistics.
- Manage and track contracts with project partners.
- Review quality and consistency of reports and deliverables.
- Track and manage project expenditure in the state.
- Submit progress reports to NPMU and UNDP.
- Identify and document best practices.
- Coordinate with NPMU and LPMU to share lessons and experiences.
Required Experience
Minimum of 7 years (with secondary education) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, social development, or any other related fields. Demonstrated technical experience in sustainable land management and socio-economic development, with experience coordinating with government agencies, stakeholders, and Project Management Units (PMUs). Experience in preparing technical reports, strategic plans, and progress updates for government and other key stakeholders. Desired experience includes leading technical teams, facilitating consultations with government stakeholders, hands-on technical experience in implementing and monitoring development, environmental, or natural resource management projects, and experience working with Central and/or State Government departments, UN agencies, international organizations, or similar institutions.
Qualifications
Secondary education is required. A university degree (bachelor´s degree) in Environmental Science/Forestry/ Agriculture/ Sustainable Development/ Social Sciences/ Public Policy/ Management or equivalent field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
