Overview

The Senior Private Sector Engagement Officer will lead the implementation of IOM’s Global Private Sector Strategy in the United States, focusing on developing and managing partnerships with private sector stakeholders to mobilize resources and support global program implementation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of IOM’s Global Private Sector Strategy 2023–2027 in the United States.
  • Develop and execute a results-driven U.S. Private Sector Fundraising and Engagement Plan.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close funding agreements with U.S.-based corporate partners and philanthropic foundations.
  • Lead and manage the U.S. private sector fundraising pipeline.
  • Contribute to global pipeline forecasting.
  • Design and execute targeted fundraising campaigns for priority thematic portfolios.
  • Prepare high-quality funding propositions, concept notes, and investment cases.
  • Strengthen stewardship of U.S.-based private sector partners.
  • Coordinate with thematic teams, Regional Offices, and PSP HQ to integrate private sector fundraising.
  • Represent IOM to the U.S. business community.
Required Experience
  • Experience in private sector partnership and income building with proven success in mobilizing financial resources from corporations and philanthropic foundations;
  • In-depth understanding and experience of the Nordics context and established track record in private sector partnership work in the Nordics;
  • Excellent understanding of private sector priorities and gained experience in developing partnerships and fundraising with the private sector;
  • Experience in handling Corporate Social Responsibility programs and corporate recognition programs;
  • Significant experience in exploring new private sector opportunities and providing inputs to design and develop solutions with prospective partners for income and impact;
  • Experience building long-term partner relationships and understanding the value of expanding relationships across geographies and comfortable engaging with multiple sectors;
  • Experienced in working cross-functionally and obtaining relevant content and information from different units to build innovative partnerships with private sector;
  • Experienced fundraiser with an in-depth understanding of private sector partnerships, philanthropy, and UN agencies.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business management, Political Science, Human Rights, International Relations, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Required
• Fluency in English is required (oral and written). • Proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Languages Preferred
• Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.
