Overview

To enhance national coordination and visibility for Syria's DRR efforts by establishing a National DRR Platform that supports the implementation of national risk-reduction priorities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and advisory support to operationalize and establish the National Multi-stakeholder DRR Platform.
  • Facilitate outreach and strategic engagement with national and international partners.
  • Collaborate with International DRR Governance Consultant on strategy development.
  • Manage planning, execution, and post-event analysis of workshops, trainings, and consultations.
  • Synchronize project deliverables with MoEDM priority recovery planning processes.
  • Streamline communication and data-sharing channels.
  • Advance MoEDM initiatives to embed risk-informed recovery approaches into national policies.
  • Oversee and document comprehensive recovery readiness assessments.
  • Lead capacity-development frameworks.
  • Cultivate and maintain structured communication channels.
  • Author and design high-level executive presentations, briefings, and strategic communication materials.
  • Formalize the documentation of MoEDM-convened proceedings.
  • Boost the visibility of MoEDM-led initiatives.
  • Synthesize and finalize technical inputs for progress reports and evaluations.
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of work experience in communication, stakeholder engagement, or project coordination is required.
  • Proven experience in organizing high-level national workshops or multi-stakeholder consultations is required.
  • Experience in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and humanitarian-development-peace collaboration is desirable.
  • Experience in supporting international technical experts is highly desirable.
  • Experience in working within the Syrian public sectors is highly desirable.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree in Communications, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or any related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN secretariat language is desirable.
Contract Duration
15Jul2026-14Jul2027, with the possibility of an extension for maximum 11 months
