Overview
The Senior Investment Officer will be responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of infrastructure-related public-sector transactions, with an emphasis on developing and implementing low-carbon and climate-resilient infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure key economic, financial, technical, legal, environmental, and social issues are considered and risk-mitigation measures are incorporated in financing structures and legal documentation.
- Lead or co-lead assessments of national structural and climate policies in infrastructure sectors.
- Analyze policy impacts and identify reform opportunities.
- Oversee or lead the implementation of AIIB’s investment operations.
- Lead or participate in dialogue with clients, cofinancing partners, and other stakeholders.
- Advise clients on the preparation of technical and feasibility studies.
- Conduct project risk assessment and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Carry out due diligence and institutional assessments.
- Support business development activities in public-sector infrastructure projects.
- Undertake regular supervision and implementation support missions and site visits.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in the health, energy, transport, water, information and communication technology, urban, and/or climate finance and green infrastructure sectors gained in a multilateral development bank (MDB) or international financial intermediary in Region 2.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to design and implement multisectoral and climate finance operations.
- Experience advising government officials in Region 2 on climate policy and sectoral development priorities.
- Extensive experience working with infrastructure operations.
Qualifications
- Master’s or advanced degree in economics, public policy, or related fields, or a sector specialization (water, transport, energy, health, digital, urban development).
- Technical background at the undergraduate level would be helpful.
