Overview
The Regional Protection Response Officer (AVR) will conduct protection assessments, identify risk mitigation strategies, and provide technical guidance and support to ensure high-quality outcomes for migrants.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct protection assessments and identify risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to national and international protection staff.
- Collaborate with relevant staff, units and programmes to ensure migrants have access to relevant services.
- Coordinate with relevant actors to facilitate access to documentation, family tracing, and reunification.
- Ensure appropriate protection information management.
- Participate in relevant coordination mechanisms or task forces.
- Provide remote and in person support for the set up of the response and provision of assistance.
- Represent RO LAC in meetings and forums.
- Monitor the implementation of protection activities.
- Contribute to the design and development of new projects and activities.
- Support case management coordination.
- Contribute to developing and delivering specialized training.
Required Experience
- Five years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree; or seven years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working with migrants, civil society, and governments.
- Experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven experience supporting protection programming across multiple countries, as well as mainstreaming protection across operations.
- Proven experience providing protection and assistance to migrants in vulnerable situations and communicating with individuals who have complex needs.
- Experience working in programs that include a movement operations component is an advantage.
- Experience with IOM or other UN agencies, particularly working on assisted voluntary return and reintegration, and specialized protection programs, is preferred.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations/Affairs, Research, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
- Bachelor’s degree in the above fields.
