Overview

The Project Coordinator - ECHO will lead the implementation of a disaster risk reduction and anticipatory action project in Southern Thailand, focusing on strengthening people-centred disaster risk management systems and advocating for scaling up within ASEAN. The role ensures high-quality, timely, and compliant delivery of project outcomes related to early warning, preparedness, and inclusive anticipatory action.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead overall management, coordination, and implementation of the ECHO project in Southern Thailand.
  • Oversee project administration, staffing, procurement, logistics, and compliance.
  • Hold primary responsibility for project budget management.
  • Develop, update, and use project management tools.
  • Work closely with thematic advisors to ensure quality implementation and child safeguarding.
  • Ensure project progress is regularly monitored and results are documented.
  • Ensure donor and internal reporting requirements are met.
  • Ensure donor compliance, including documentation, visibility, and audit readiness.
  • Systematically document lessons learned, challenges, and success stories.
  • Line-manage and mentor Project Officer.
  • Provide technical leadership on DRR, emergency preparedness, early warning systems, and anticipatory action.
  • Support the development, testing, and maintenance of contingency plans, SOPs, and early action mechanisms.
  • Coordinate with thematic advisors to facilitate trainings.
  • Ensure challenges related to access, security, conflict sensitivity, and vulnerability are addressed.
  • Contribute to Save the Children Thailand’s strategic planning processes.
  • Support proposal development efforts.
  • Manage relationships with implementing partners.
  • Provide technical and organizational development support to partners.
  • Monitor partner performance.
  • Ensure timely fund transfers to partners.
  • Work with partners to document good practices, lessons learned, and evidence.
  • Represent Save the Children in project-related coordination and technical forums.
  • Lead coordination and advocacy with key government stakeholders.
  • Engage actively with ASEAN mechanisms, regional platforms, and Save the Children regional teams.
  • Strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in humanitarian, DRR, emergency preparedness, or anticipatory action programming, preferably in conflict affected or fragile contexts.
  • Proven experience working in Southern Thailand / Deep South contexts, with strong understanding of local dynamics, challenges, and stakeholders.
  • Strong experience coordinating with government authorities (especially DDPM), UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects (ECHO preferred), including budget management and compliance.
  • Experience managing and supporting local partners and multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in Disaster Risk Reduction, Emergency Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
