Overview

The Protection Officer - GBV will supervise and mentor Protection Assistants managing Women and Girls Centers and Child Friendly Spaces, overseeing empowerment, skill-building, and awareness-raising activities. The role involves monitoring GBV and Child Protection interventions and reporting to management.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight to GBV and child protection prevention assistants.
  • Support Incentive workers through mentoring and training.
  • Mentor and supervise protection assistants on day-to-day activities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive work plans.
  • Lead capacity building plans for staff and volunteers.
  • Develop weekly/monthly work plans.
  • Engage with community leaders, members, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee psychoeducational sessions for women and adolescent girls.
  • Oversee facilitation of life skills sessions.
  • Facilitate trainings on gender equality, child protection, and healthy relationships.
  • Mentor GBV & CP prevention assistants and Incentive Workers.
  • Design income-generating activities and recruit teachers.
  • Oversee beneficiary selection and group establishment for income-generating activities.
  • Lead the implementation of GBV, CP curriculums.
  • Supervise Male Engagement activity.
  • Lead the roll out of awareness raising campaigns and focus group discussions.
  • Oversee planning and roll out of awareness activities for commemorative days.
  • Lead the roll out of GBV prevention curricula.
  • Support recruitment/replacements of Incentive workers.
  • Ensure GBV activity data is collected, stored, and maintained.
  • Work with MEAL Team to check monthly data accuracy.
  • Supervise WGC, CFS activity data and ensure use of digital tools.
  • Ensure GBV, CP Prevention Assistants’ work plans are managed and support routine reporting.
  • Mentor and coach Incentive workers and FBS.
  • Organize regular meetings with Incentive workers and FBS.
  • Support initiative capacity building plans for GBV, CP FBS, and Incentive workers.
  • Compile and edit weekly and monthly reports.
  • Draft monthly reports with analysis of progress and challenges.
  • Complete indicator tracker for GBV prevention activities.
  • Oversee Monitoring and Evaluation of activities.
  • Draft quarterly reports for the donor.
  • Fill and submit Purchase Requisitions, Travel Authorizations and other administrative forms.
  • Oversee documentation for Field Level Case Workers incentives payment.
  • Coordinate with other DRC departments for resource use.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in sector area working for an NGO or association.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on child protection and women protection such as child friendly recreational activities, empowerment programs, reproductive health, counselling etc.
  • Previous experience in working with communities, running GBV prevention curricula, raising awareness and providing services in camp and village settings.
  • Understanding of operational context in Rakhine State.
Qualifications

• University (BA/BSc) degree in relevant field is an asset or equivalent professional qualification.
