Overview
Internship opportunity within the Environment and Forests Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, focusing on supporting intergovernmental meetings and legal/policy research related to environmental conventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preparation, organization, and servicing of intergovernmental meetings under the Espoo Convention and its Protocol on SEA.
- Support preparation, organization, and servicing of meetings of the Compliance Committees under the Aarhus Convention and the Protocol on PRTRs.
- Assist in the preparation of outreach materials and drafting short articles on the Aarhus Convention and Espoo Convention.
- Assist with updating databases of the Aarhus Convention and the Espoo Convention.
- Carry out other tasks such as desk research, meeting support, drafting of reports, and processing of data.
Required Experience
No professional work experience is required for participation in the Internship Programme.
Qualifications
- Enrolled or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- OR enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Computer literate in standard software applications and CMS (e.g. Drupal).
- Studies in law, preferably including international and/or human rights and/or environmental law or equivalent are required.
