Overview

This internship supports the Budget, Finance and Operational Support Section in planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of financial and budgetary resources.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the review, consolidation and collection of inputs supporting the preparation of annual financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Prepare donor contribution receipts and support the preparation of documentation related to the recognition and recording of contributions.
  • Assist in the coordination of petty cash reporting across duty stations and support the review and reconciliation of accounts payable transactions.
  • Support documentation and analysis of budget-related discussions and decisions.
  • Assist in monitoring budget implementation and expenditure trends.
  • Support the organization, development and maintenance of section records, reference material, templates and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in monitoring certified inputs related to the UN Business Operations Strategy (BOS), coordination of meetings, preparation of minutes and maintenance of section documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Experience in an international and multicultural environment is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is required for all applicants.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
