Overview

The communication intern will gain experience in communication for international development, supporting the creation and dissemination of content to raise awareness of UNFPA's work on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and youth development in the Pacific region.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing content for various communication channels, including social media, websites, and publications (short videos, web stories, animations, infographics).
  • Video Editing: Assisting with editing existing video footage, creating short video clips, and adding graphics and animations.
  • Assist with developing storyboards and scripts for multimedia content.
  • Social Media Management: Assisting with scheduling and posting engaging content on UNFPA’s social media channels.
  • Graphic Design: Creating infographics, presentations, and other visual content to support communication campaigns.
  • Content Research: Conducting research to identify relevant multimedia resources and trends.
  • Monitor online conversations and audience engagement on social media.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide creative inputs.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to promote UNFPA's work.
  • Stay up-to-date on current issues related to SRHR and youth development in the Pacific.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Communications Supervisor.
Required Experience

Experience with video editing software and graphic design software.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a master’s degree programme in communication, journalism, international relations, development studies or related field.
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme and undertake the internship as part of this programme.

Remuneration
Interns do not receive a salary from UNFPA. However, UNFPA provides a monthly stipend to interns. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship.
