Overview
International Researcher to conduct a study on violence against Women Human Rights Defenders and Journalists in Georgia. The role will generate evidence on the prevalence, nature, and impact of violence experienced by these groups and provide recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare an inception report detailing study design, methodology, sampling, ethics, data collection, quality assurance, and analysis plan.
- Develop methodology and survey questionnaire for online and offline violence experiences.
- Finalize methodology and survey instrument, conduct pilot testing.
- Establish secure data collection, storage, and protection.
- Conduct data collection using electronic questionnaire with at least 100 respondents.
- Implement qualitative component: at least two focus group discussions and four to six in-depth interviews.
- Clean, process, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
- Prepare output tables and analytical findings.
- Draft an analytical report with methodology, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Revise and finalize the analytical report.
- Present key findings and recommendations to UN Women and stakeholders.
Required Experience
- At least seven (7) years of professional experience (or nine (9) years with a bachelor's degree) in conducting research on gender equality, violence against women, human rights, media freedom, freedom of expression, or related fields.
- At least seven years (nine years in case of bachelor’s degree) of experience in designing and implementing quantitative and/or mixed-methods research projects on violence against women, including survey development, questionnaire design, pilot testing, data analysis, and report writing.
- Proven experience conducting research on violence, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, digital safety, online harms, disinformation, or related issues affecting women and girls, journalists, human rights defenders, or other groups in public life.
- Demonstrated experience producing high-quality analytical reports, policy papers, research publications, and recommendations for policymakers, international organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with women human rights defenders, journalists, civil society organizations, media organizations, or other groups exposed to gender-based violence, harassment, or freedom-of-expression-related risks is an asset.
- Experience working with UN agencies and/or international organizations is an asset.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Journalism or related field. A first-level university degree, in combination with at least two additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
