Overview
The Political Officer (S2) role involves advising on political and conflict sensitivities, drafting analytical reports, supporting dialogue and negotiation, and maintaining contacts within the Mission area.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on political and conflict sensitivities
- Drafting and contributing to analytical reports, briefings, and talking points
- Supporting dialogue, negotiation, and confidence-building measures
- Providing political analysis and representation
- Maintaining contacts and providing political advice
- Identifying potential risks of conflict or escalation and advising on preventive measures
- Participating in the security zone monitoring programme
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in working in the region and knowledge of the historical and current political situation in the Mission area.
- Experience in liaising with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Qualifications
First-level university degree in international studies, public policy, political science or law or related fields.
