Overview
The Senior Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the Head of Office, UNESCO/UN officials, and visitors, ensuring timely and secure transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Drives the Head of Office, UNESCO/UN officials, staff, and visitors.
- Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services.
- Meets senior staff, officials, and visitors at the airport and facilitates basic visa and customs formalities.
- Translates in local language for the Head of Office and/or official personnel using the vehicle.
- Coordinates routes and schedules drivers and vehicles.
- May instruct other drivers in traffic and safety regulations.
- May coordinate arrangements for major repairs.
- Ensures cost-savings through proper upkeep and maintenance of vehicles.
- Prepares vehicle maintenance logs and reports.
- Assists on installations and use of HF, VHF radio and satellite phone.
- Ensures availability of required documents/supplies in the vehicle.
- Keeps track of insurance and tax formalities.
- Ensures timely, accurate, and correct reporting of accidents.
- Delivers and collects mail and documents.
- Undertakes basic clerical duties such as photocopying, binding, filing, and paying office bills.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of work experience as a driver.
- Experience within the UN system, and international organisation or diplomatic mission.
- Experience in customs procedures and protocol.
Qualifications
- Completed secondary, technical or vocational education.
- Valid category B driving license held for more than 5 years.
- Certification in first aid.
