Associate Project Officer (Culture)

Overview

Associate Project Officer (Culture) responsible for implementing projects aimed at strengthening the conservation, management, and sustainable development of World Heritage properties in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation of projects financed by the Governments of Japan and Norway.
• Assist in developing and implementing projects that promote sustainable livelihoods, job creation and community well-being.
• Design, contribute to, and deliver capacity-building activities on Impact Assessment and World Heritage management instruments.
• Provide technical guidance and advisory support for the preparation, review and submission of management plans, impact assessments and other heritage management instruments.
• Draft the State of Conservation reports and other related documents.
• Support and provide advice to States Parties in the conservation and management of World Heritage properties.

Required Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the field of conservation of natural and cultural heritage, and related field, of which preferably at least one (1) year acquired at the international level. Experience in project management. Relevant experience in heritage conservation.

Qualifications

Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent), preferably in the field of culture, heritage conservation and management, humanities, political science or a related field.
