SECONDMENT - Legal Officer - NDTF

Overview

The Legal Officer will assist in providing legal advice for the review of notices and diffusions within the Notices and Diffusions Task Force (NDTF). The role involves conducting legal research and drafting legal documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides legal research in relation to the review and publication of notices and diffusions.
• Drafts and reviews legal documents related to the review and publication of notices and diffusions, including legal memoranda, internal legal guidelines, repositories of practice, SOPs, policy papers, reports and resolutions.
• Drafts and reviews communications with member countries regarding notices and diffusions.
• Prepares background materials for meetings with representatives of member countries.
• Participates in meetings with member countries as requested.
• Prepares materials for legal training in relation to the review and publication of notices and diffusions.
• Provides legal training to various actors, including INTERPOL officials, NCB staff, and law-enforcement officials.
• Contributes to and participates in the preparations of internal meetings and meetings with member countries.
• Represents the Organization in international conferences.
• Participates in joint initiatives with other organizations.
• Performs any other duties as may be required.

Required Experience

At least three years of working experience as a lawyer, preferably in the field of international law. Sound knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of international law, preferably in relation to international cooperation in criminal matters, international criminal law, and international human rights law.

Qualifications

Degree in Law, preferably in international law. An advanced degree in Public international law or International criminal law would be an asset.
