Overview
The Project Director will lead the PlayMatters 3.0 initiative, a five-year project aimed at increasing quality educational opportunities for refugee and host community children in Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda. The role involves ensuring high-impact programming, coordinating partners, and representing the project to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical leadership and direction for project implementation.
- Develop, review, and monitor annual work and performance plans.
- Oversee project delivery to ensure alignment with the performance framework and operational policies.
- Manage partners/subgrantees and provide financial and operations support.
- Report to the donor through formal and informal debriefings and reports.
- Maintain active relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials and project partners.
- Represent the project and organization publicly and disseminate project achievements.
- Support project staff by fostering a positive work environment.
Required Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience managing programs for refugees or crisis-affected populations in challenging contexts. Experience managing large-scale, multi-million dollar, complex, multi-country, multi-partner projects. Experience working in East Africa and/or Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda on education programming. Demonstrated success in staff capacity-building and in participatory, flexible, and gender-sensitive programming and implementation.
Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited university in international development humanitarian assistance or related field.
