Knowledge Management Consultant

Overview

Consultant to develop a Knowledge Management (KM) Strategy for WFP, including defining vision, operating models, and implementation roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in inception meetings and refine methodology, workplan, and deliverables.
• Submit an inception report with a finalized approach and tools.
• Conduct desk reviews of WFP strategies, systems, evaluations, and KM initiatives.
• Map existing KM practices, workflows, communities of practice, and digital platforms.
• Conduct interviews, surveys, and focus groups with WFP staff.
• Benchmark KM approaches from other UN agencies.
• Define the vision, mission, and strategic pillars of KM for WFP.
• Develop a KM operating model, including roles, responsibilities, and governance.
• Propose mechanisms for knowledge capture, synthesis, dissemination, and retention.
• Provide recommendations for technologies and digital platforms that support KM.
• Integrate cross-cutting themes including gender, inclusion, protection, innovation, digital transformation, and localization.
• Develop a detailed roadmap outlining short-, medium-, and long-term actions.
• Estimate required resources, skills, and budget.
• Develop KPIs, monitoring tools, and an evaluation framework to track progress.
• Present the draft strategy and roadmap to WFP management and capture feedback.
• Finalize the KM Strategy and accompanying documentation.

Required Experience

Minimum 7–10 years of experience in developing KM strategies for international organizations, preferably within the UN system. Demonstrated expertise in organizational learning, change management, digital knowledge platforms, and KM governance. Experience conducting interviews, assessments, and participatory workshops.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Organizational Development, International Development, or related fields.
