Overview

The technical expert provides full-time technical leadership for the preparedness workstream, focusing on developing and validating a forecast-driven demand planning methodology. The role supports the translation of predictive and risk information into supply chain planning and operational decisions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analysis of existing forecasting approaches, preparedness planning methodologies, demand planning practices and relevant evidence
  • Definition of the scope, principles, process steps and intended use of the forecast-driven demand planning methodology
  • Technical design and development of the forecast-driven demand planning methodology, proof-of-concept and associated guidance
  • Drafting and iterative refinement of technical outputs and supporting guidance
  • Facilitation of technical discussions with expert and sector groups
  • Synthesis of consultation, expert review and stakeholder feedback
  • Support to testing, proof-of-concept application and validation activities in selected humanitarian contexts
  • Assessing the relevance, applicability, credibility and practical utility of the methodology through stakeholder engagement and testing
  • Identification of evidence gaps, limitations, assumptions and areas requiring refinement
  • Support to validation, finalisation and consolidation of outputs
  • Preparation of outputs for governance review and endorsement
  • Documenting lessons learned and considerations relevant to future stewardship and governance of the methodology.
Required Experience

Substantial experience (typically 7+ years) in humanitarian supply chains or preparedness. Demonstrated experience in developing preparedness methodologies, forecasting approaches, demand planning tools, guidance, or system-level approaches. Experience working effectively across organisations and functions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Experience facilitating consensus-building and technical alignment across organisations and stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

A minimum of a first-level university degree in a relevant field is required.
