Consultant, Enhancing Preparedness and Response to Measles, Rubella, and Congenital Rubella Syndrome Outbreaks in Countries of the Americas Region
Overview
This consultancy aims to strengthen national rapid response, surveillance, and immunization efforts in the Americas region to enhance preparedness and response to measles, rubella, and congenital rubella syndrome outbreaks.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and strengthen Rapid Response Teams (RaRT/ERRa).
- Contribute to situational analysis of measles or rubella outbreaks.
- Support rapid response activities including case investigation, contact vaccination, and outbreak vaccination strategies.
- Support microplanning for mass vaccination strategies.
- Support Rapid Vaccination Monitoring (MRV).
- Strengthen epidemiological surveillance.
- Coordinate with national actors.
- Provide technical advice for outbreak closing reports.
- Support integration of Red Cross/Red Crescent national societies.
- Hold weekly coordination meetings.
- Prepare weekly written summary reports including photos.
- Support clinical management and infection prevention and control activities.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of experience in vaccine preventable diseases epidemiological surveillance and/or immunization program, including experience in measles/rubella outbreak control at national level. Knowledge and experience with the use of digital tools for outbreak control in epidemiology and/or public health.
Qualifications
Medical doctor or related public health profession, with postgraduate training in epidemiology, public health or other related. No links to the pharmaceutical industry. Preferred PhD or Doctoral studies.
