Senior Protection Caseworker

Overview

Support the implementation, coordination, and quality oversight of protection case management activities within the IOM Algeria Protection Programme, focusing on child protection, counter-trafficking, migrant protection, and gender-based violence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and screenings for migrants.
• Ensure timely and adequate implementation of activities in line with case management SOPs and program guidelines.
• Identify, develop, and maintain comprehensive referral pathways with relevant partners.
• Conduct regular mapping of services and ensure access for migrants.
• Collect and share valid information with migrants about available services.
• Implement measures to ensure confidentiality when handling personal information and data.
• Develop individual action plans for migrants in coordination with caseworkers and psychosocial services.
• Ensure all activities safeguard IOM protection principles and mainstream key protection concerns.
• Deliver trainings to relevant partners on protection topics.
• Ensure IOM's assistance programs have a feedback mechanism for beneficiaries.
• Supervise, guide, and train junior staff members.
• Undertake any duty travel as required.

Required Experience

• Minimum four years of similar level of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or at least six years of relevant professional experience with a high school degree.
• Experience in the implementation of protection programmes within national/international development and/or humanitarian response projects.
• Experience working with vulnerable migrants, including refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
• Proven experience in Inter-Agency coordination in humanitarian setting.
• Experience in an international setting with direction and motivation of staff, including staff training and development initiatives.
• Experience in the design and delivery of capacity building programmes.
• Experience in working and/or liaising with government authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in development studies, Political or Social Sciences, Sustainable Development, Migration Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Human rights, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or High school degree.
