Overview

The Associate Security Coordination Officer - Saving Lives Together (SLT) is responsible for preparing security plans, monitoring security measures, and enhancing collaboration with international organizations for safe program delivery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares draft security plans and management documents.
  • Monitors implementation of approved security measures.
  • Participates in maintaining communication with UNSMS entities.
  • Assists with implementation and evaluation of security measures.
  • Conducts security surveys and assessments.
  • Supports implementation of safety and security policies.
  • Plans and develops security support for INGOs and IOs.
  • Participates in maintaining cooperation with authorities and institutions.
  • Participates in humanitarian cluster meetings and develops information-sharing strategies.
  • Prepares draft reports on security-related incidents.
  • Provides support for Emergency Communication Systems.
  • Assists Senior Security Officers in crisis situation reviews and contingency planning.
  • Monitors and contributes to preparedness and compliance activities.
  • Liaises with local authorities and provides security briefings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in security, risk or disaster or emergency management in the public or private service areas, such as national security, military or police, or in corporate environment, responsible for responding to emergency situations that directly impact security is required. Specialized experience in such areas as security programmes, risk assessments, risk management or analysis is required. Experience in providing guidance to security forums for decision-making is required. At least one year of international experience in security operations is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in security management, business administration, political/social science, psychology, criminal justice, law, international relations, or a related field is required. A first level university degree with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first level university degree may be substituted with a diploma from a police or military education institution, college or academy obtained over a minimum of a three-year period. Certified Security Professional Training, such as UNDSS Trainer Development and Certification Course (TDC), or equivalent UN or external training, is required.
