Vehicle Technician

Overview

Maintain, service, and repair United Nations vehicles, ensuring a safe, reliable, and operationally available fleet through timely preventive maintenance, accurate fault diagnosis, and effective repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and repair UN owned light passenger vehicles, heavy transport vehicles, and mobile handling equipment.
• Perform mechanical duties including engine tune-ups, brake system service, cooling and fuel systems, and steering/suspension.
• Diagnose, repair, and overhaul major assemblies and components.
• Perform auto body repairs, including damage assessment, part replacement, panel beating, welding, surface preparation, and painting.
• Test drive vehicles for technical analysis and quality control.
• Update electronic service orders and prepare cost estimates for repairs.
• Perform vehicle recovery with specialist equipment.
• Provide on-site technical assistance.

Required Experience

At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Light and Heavy 4 x 4 vehicles maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications

Secondary/high-school education plus a recognized technical/vocational certificate or diploma in automotive mechanics, vehicle maintenance, diesel mechanics, or a related field.
