Overview
The Senior Investment Officer - Water & Urban will be responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of infrastructure-related public-sector transactions, with an emphasis on the urban development, water supply and sanitation, and/or water resource management subsectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure key economic, financial, technical, legal, environmental, and social issues are considered and mitigants are incorporated in the financing structure and legal documentation during project preparation.
- Oversee project procurement, financial management, safeguards compliance, and monitoring and evaluation in the implementation of AIIB’s investment operations.
- Lead or participate in dialogue with clients, cofinancing partners, and other stakeholders on strategic issues and the implementation of AIIB’s investments.
- Advise clients on the preparation of technical and feasibility studies and the technical design of projects.
- Conduct project risk assessment of projects and programs, and advise project teams on mitigation strategies.
- Carry out due diligence and institutional assessments on executing agencies.
- Support business development activities in public-sector infrastructure projects or non-sovereign-backed financing lending to state-owned enterprises.
- Undertake regular supervision and implementation support missions and site visits.
- Support business development and implementation support activities.
- Contribute to knowledge generation, lessons learned, and best practices for continuous improvement in project delivery.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical leadership and strategic guidance.
- Mentor and develop junior staff within the team.
Required Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant working experience in the urban development, water supply and sanitation, and/or water resource management sectors.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing projects, including the integration of nature-based solutions.
- Proven experience in structuring and managing climate finance projects for resilient water supply, sanitation, and water resource management infrastructure projects and programs.
- Extensive international project experience, particularly in capacity-constrained economies, would be an advantage.
- Experience working with MDBs or development financing institutions would be highly desirable.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering/science, urban design and planning, environment engineering, disaster risk management, business management, or other related fields.
