Overview
Provide targeted coordination and technical support to WHO ACE in advancing climate and health financing, climate diplomacy, and implementation of priority regional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support applied research and evidence gathering related to climate finance and regional engagement priorities.
- Coordinate and support delivery of meetings, workshops, and consultations on climate–finance activities.
- Contribute to preparation of technical and operational materials, including presentations and briefing notes.
- Maintain internal tracking, documentation, and knowledge management for partnerships and deliverables.
- Support ACE’s engagement in pre-COP and COP31 processes, including strategic positioning of health within climate negotiation and regional climate dialogue.
- Develop climate-health advocacy materials, key messages, briefing notes, speeches, and presentations for Pre COP/COP31 and related climate diplomacy engagements.
- Coordinate with WHO HQ, WPRO divisions, country offices, and external partners on climate-health advocacy priorities.
- Identify opportunities to position health within climate finance and climate policy discussions at regional and global levels.
- Develop case studies and communication materials on climate and health co-benefits.
- Develop at least one investment-oriented case study demonstrating the health, environmental and economic co-benefits of climate action for use in climate diplomacy and COP-related events.
- Support strategic engagement with multilateral development banks, climate funds, and financing partnership to strengthen the visibility of health within climate finance discussions.
- Develop materials linking climate-health outcomes to investment and financing priorities.
- Support climate finance discussions and events related to COP follow-up processes.
- Contribute to development of strategic partnership opportunities on climate finance and climate-health investment.
- Support ACE to maintain a consolidated workplan and tracking system for ACE-FIT delivery.
- Conduct desk-review and consultation to map country climate-health finance maturity and prioritisation, development of country archetypes.
- Set of standardized materials (presentations, templates, documentation formats) tailored to different archetypes.
- Provide technical and coordination support for the planning, preparation, and delivery of 4-6 country workshops and related capacity building activities.
- Capture and synthesize insights to inform refinement and Phase 3 delivery.
- Coordinate and implement support for partnership activities and meetings.
- Contribute to identification and refinement of country pipelines and implementation approaches.
- Support development of climate-health financing opportunities and investment concepts.
- Contribute to design of Phase 2 financing architecture, including operational concepts for innovative or blended finance approaches.
- Support preparation of decision-ready materials for senior management and partners.
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in climate finance, international development, or health systems strengthening at international level. Experience working with UN agencies, multilateral development banks, or similar institutions is highly desirable. Experience supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships and coordination processes. Experience supporting and engaging with UNFCCC and COP processes.
Qualifications
University degree in public health, economics, international development, climate finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
