Statistician – Development Finance
Overview
The role involves contributing to the Creditor Reporting System (CRS) data on financial resources provided to developing countries, improving the presentation and analysis of development finance statistics, and conducting analysis of key themes and issues in development co-operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the drafting of documents, presentations, reports, and web products containing statistical data.
- Prepare high quality accurate data and statistics for working papers and publications.
- Contribute to methodological work on development finance statistics.
- Contribute to the development of innovative data frameworks that include automated data management processes, data exchange and validation.
- Contribute to the production and maintenance of development finance datasets.
- Improve the presentation of development finance statistics by preparing graphs, tables, maps, and developing dynamic dashboards and other data visualisation tools.
- Contribute to the organisation of meetings and workshops and capacity-building events on ODA reporting.
- Prepare presentations and briefing materials as required.
- Provide communication support to the Division teams on key messages and story-telling in the area of development finance.
- Contribute to joint projects and activities with other sections of DCD, the OECD or other key partners.
- Carry out other related duties, as assigned.
- Support data analysis and visualisation for the DAC Review, as requested.
Required Experience
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a national and/or multilateral institution working on large datasets, ideally on development finance. Good understanding of development finance and the principles and concepts underlying the recording of international financial flows. Experience in drafting documents based on quantitative data analysis. Strong technical skills in data handling and validation. Proven ability to prepare material for publication ensuring a strong attention to detail and the ability to produce effective communication materials targeted to different audiences.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, data science or related discipline.
