UN Women: Statistics Specialist - Flagship Reports, Nairobi, Kenya, P-3 (Fixed-Term Appointment)
Overview
The Statistics Specialist is responsible for conducting data analysis for UN Women’s flagship reports and other publications, providing substantive inputs, research and analysis for their production, and supporting the Section’s statistical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data analysis for UN Women’s flagship reports and other publications.
- Provide substantive inputs, research and analysis for the production of UN Women’s flagship reports.
- Provide substantive support to the Section and Division’s other statistical work.
- Provide substantive inputs to communication and outreach activities.
- Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of relevant progressively responsible work experience, with a demonstrable ability to conduct high quality statistical research is required. Experience working with international data and actual knowledge of quantitative analysis and related software (i.e. Excel, Stata and Python) is required. Experience in gathering and presenting gender data and statistics is required. Experience in statistical analysis, econometrics and/or data science is required. Experience leading and managing personnel in international settings is required. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, particularly in relation to gender equality is desirable. Experience in the use of a modern web-based ERP System, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable. Previous experience working on gender issues and/or major institutional reports is desirable.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in gender/women's studies, economics, social sciences, human rights, international development or a related field with a strong quantitative focus is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
