Overview
The Conflict Resolution Officer will provide technical support to the Ombudsperson programme, focusing on case management, research, and reporting within a specific region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee case management and provide assistance with intake and follow-up of cases, including compilation of statistics and preparation of reports.
- Utilize OOM’s internal and independent case management practices and system.
- Research and identify systemic issues to advise OOM leadership on preventive actions.
- Prepare reports on trends and activities, identifying patterns or problem areas.
- Research topics related to the Ombudsperson function and prepare draft policies and procedures.
- Conduct outreach activities, preparing and editing various documents.
- Implement training programmes in conflict prevention and dispute resolution.
- Provide support on issues related to equity and fair treatment, such as gender issues.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Five years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree, or seven years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
- Experience in professional conflict management practice, such as mediation, ombuds, conflict prevention and awareness in the workplace, working with people in conflict situations.
- Experience in case management, from intake to closure.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and in regional contexts.
- Experience in providing and explaining information about policies and rules.
- Experience building trust, doing outreach and providing feedback.
- Experience helping staff to develop options and evaluate pros and cons.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Behavioural Sciences, Conflict Resolution, Law, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, University degree in the above fields.
- Ombuds Certification is desirable.
