National Programme Officer – Protection and Gender
Overview
Support the coordination and implementation of the migrant protection and gender mainstreaming programme portfolio for IOM Kenya Mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and monitoring of operational, administrative and financial aspects of the migrant protection programme portfolio.
- Keep supervisor informed on programme implementation status, identify gaps and suggest improvements.
- Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, M&E tools and SOPs.
- Coordinate data collection, verification and analysis, and update information management systems and social media platforms.
- Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of programme reports.
- Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, stakeholders and government counterparts.
- Contribute to planning, development, organization and delivery of capacity building activities.
- Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, and interagency coordination meetings.
- Participate in the preparation of project proposals and communication products.
- Supervise assigned staff and provide training and technical guidance.
- Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring visits, and assessments.
Required Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations; Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
